Schools taking part in the MIRA pilot can submit their experience to various national and international educational-innovation awards. This page brings together the most relevant calls and explains how the MIRA experience fits each one. A pilot school that documents its process has enough material to apply for several of these awards.

Why this matters — for the schools and for the network
Each pilot school that wins recognition citing its MIRA experience brings two things to the network: visibility of the model among other schools looking for references, and external evidence of impact that strengthens the model’s evidence base. The documentation the pilot process generates — termly surveys, classroom evidence, monitoring reports — is exactly what these calls ask for.
International recognition

UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Teacher Development
UNESCO · Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation · Biennial
The most significant international recognition for evidence-based teacher-development initiatives. It recognises innovative practices that improve teaching quality in line with SDG 4. It is awarded every two years; the next cycle is 2025-2026, with the ceremony on 5 October 2026, World Teachers’ Day. The prize is USD 300,000 shared among three winners, but its real value is global visibility and access to international networks of education leaders.
Why it fits MIRA: the Prize recognises exactly what MIRA is — an evidence-based teacher-development initiative that improves assessment practice and student learning. The jury’s criteria include innovation, replicability and measurable impact: the three pillars of the model. Applications must be submitted by a UNESCO Member State or an associated organisation.

Ibero-American Prize “Innovation and SDGs in Schools”
Organisation of Ibero-American States · Spanish Ministry of Education · Annual
Recognises early-years, primary, secondary and upper-secondary schools across Ibero-America that integrate the 2030 Agenda SDGs in creative and innovative ways. Schools from 21 countries take part. The call usually opens in July and closes in September.
Why it fits MIRA: real Agency projects — authentic student production with an impact on the environment — connect directly with the SDGs. A pilot school that documents a community-oriented Agency project has a strong application in the active-citizenship and meaningful-learning categories.

Espiral International Award
Espiral, Education and Technology Association · Annual
One of the longest-running educational-innovation awards in the Spanish-speaking world. It recognises innovative educational projects, resources and experiences across several categories. It has wide coverage in specialist media and an active teaching community.
Why it fits MIRA: integrating Claude as a catalyst for teacher design is a natural entry in the educational-technology category. The adaptable classroom instruments are an entry in the resources-and-methodology category. Both the model’s author and the pilot schools may apply.

A new Ministry call to recognise teaching practices that integrate digital technologies and promote digital competence. Aimed at individual teachers or teams and at publicly funded schools. The criteria include innovation, effectiveness, sustainability and replicability.
Why it fits MIRA: using Claude as a catalyst for teacher design — generating assessment instruments adapted to the subject — is an experience directly relevant to this call. A pilot teacher who documents how they use the MIRA generator has a specific, distinctive application.

Educational Innovation Awards
Various calls — SIMO Educación, private awards from educational foundations · Annual
The SIMO Educación international trade fair runs annual Awards for Educational Innovation and Innovative Teaching Experiences. There are also private calls from foundations and education networks aimed at state, state-subsidised and private schools in Spain and Latin America. The most common categories include personalised learning, competence-based assessment, active methodologies and AI integration.
Why it fits MIRA: criterion-referenced A-D assessment, student self-assessment before submission and the Progress Narrative are practices that can be entered directly in the competence-based-assessment and personalisation categories. The termly pilot report is the base document for any application.

Regional · Schools in each region
Regional awards for educational innovation and research
Regional Departments of Education · Annual
Most Spanish regions run annual awards for educational innovation or for classroom research and innovation, aimed at teachers and schools in their territory. They are the most accessible route to a first institutional recognition — the juries are local, know the context and value alignment with the regional curriculum.
Why it fits MIRA: explicit alignment with LOMLOE and with each region’s curriculum makes any pilot experience a direct candidate. The termly pilot report, adapted with the region’s data, is the base document.
